COMING TOGETHER IN A TIME OF GREAT CHALLENGE

Dear Hearts, I write at a time of great change and challenge, especially here in the Pacific Northwest.

I have lived my entire life in Oregon. I grew up in Southern Oregon and have spent my adult life in the greater Portland area. The beauty of this state has always been a blessing…be it the beautiful coast or the high desert or the great ancient forests. This is my home.

My heart is breaking……I am grieving the loss of our beloved forests by the all devastating fires and winds of this past week. It is hard to even hold the images of all the wild fires and the scale of the challenges. ahead for all Oregonians.

I can’t even get my mind around it all. Climate change is truly here.

I am praying for all beings…

For all of the animals who are fleeing for their lives… for all the people who have had evacuate within minutes of their lives….for all those who have loss their homes, and belongings…for those still missing and unaccounted for. For all of those who do not even know if their homes are still standing. For all those who have died and the families who are grieving. For all beings who have perished in the fires.

I am praying for all the brave and courageous persons fighting the fires…those who are warning and risking their lives to help people evacuate…for all the people offering their help and resources to help one another.

I am praying for all the livestock and pets which are now housed in shelters….for all the volunteers who are taking care of them.

I am heart sick…..I am so sad at the loss of the habitat, I’ve taken for granted.

I am sad to think of my favorite retreat center (Britenbush) being surrounded by the flames and the old growth forest which are home to the Spotted Owls….and hot springs of deep healing.

A place of spiritual retreat for so many.

How could this be? Yes, the climate change is happening……there is warming happening across the world and we are at cause for part of this situation.

I pray for an awakening….for a new way of being in relationship with the land and the elements.

I pray for healing…I pray for the entire communities of Oregon to come together….. to help rebuild and hold each other up.

I pray for kindness, hope and humanity.

I pray for us to find a new way forward. I pray to do my part.

May to Guan Yin to help us all…blessing us with her compassion and love.

thank you for this precious earth…

may we all heal.

I call out to the Spirits of the land and heavens and ask for their help in navigating the days ahead.

I pray for all the communities whose lives have been scarred by these fires….may somehow they find strength and hope in the days, weeks and years ahead to rebuild.

May the generosity of the human heart be stronger than the depth of pain…may love prevail.

May we all practice kindness, generosity, and compassion.

May we gather together… holding on to the red thread connection as we begin again.
